What is kanyashree prakalpa?

Kanyashree prakalpa is a West Bengal government scheme specially designed for the West Bengal state’s unmarried child girls. It was initiated on 8th March 2013 by the department of women’s development and social welfare. the main aim of the scheme is to delay the early marriage of the girls and to provide education to girls

This scheme is a conditional cash transfer scheme divided into two components, i.e., annual scholarship and one time grant.

An annual scholarship of Rs.1000

An annual scholarship of Rs.1000 will be given to the girls from the age 13-18 enrolled in class VIII-XII from any government recognized school or open school or pursuing vocational or technical courses.

One time grant of Rs.25000

One time grant of Rs.25000 will be given to the girls of the age 18 enrolled in government recognized or open school/college or pursuing vocational/technical training or sports activity or having registered under J.J. Act 2000 and girl must be unmarried at that time.

kanyashree prakalpa scholarship

  • Annual scholarship (K1) – Rs.1000
  • One‐Time Grant (K2) – Rs.25000
  • Science stream students (Monthly scholarship) K3- Rs. 2500
  • Arts stream students (Monthly scholarship) K3 – Rs. 2000

Eligibility criteria

  • Applicant must be a permanent resident of the West Bengal state
  • Age of the applicant should be in between 13 to 17
  • Material status of applicant must be unmarried
  • An annual income of the family should be less than or equal to Rs.120000/-
  • Family income condition is different for 40%physically challenged or an applicant who has lost both the parents.
  • An applicant must be enrolled in class VIII-XII from any government recognized school or open school or pursuing vocational or technical courses.

one time grant scholarship(K2 level)

  • The applicant must be a permanent resident of the West Bengal state.
  • Applicants age should be in between 18 to 19
  • The material status of applicant must be unmarried.
  • An applicant must be enrolled in government recognized or open school/college or pursuing vocational/technical training or sports activity.
  • An annual income of the family should be less than or equal to Rs.120000/-
  • Family income condition is different for 40%physically challenged and an applicant who has lost both the parents.

K3 level

  • an applicant who has registered for the k2 is eligible for the k3 scheme.
  • An applicant has to pass an Undergraduate degree with at least 45% marks and took admission to any Postgraduate course under any University.

  • First of all, you have to collect the application form from your respective educational institute.
  • After that, fill the necessary details carefully.
  • Then attach the required documents to your form.
  • And submit it to the institute.
  • Your department head will give you the receipt, which you have to keep safe for future reference.
